Chapter 1 Introduction
The paper , first of all, simply describes Susan Sontag and her stories; then, brifly introduces the novel, and especially probes into the problem of the heroine–Polish actress–Marina’s transformation of her identity. And the paper farther discusses the process, the substance, the connotation and the extension of the transformation of Marina’s identity, and comprehends the author’s purpose. At last, of ourselves, we could know the great woman Sontag better. I wish that readers will get more information about Susan Sontag, her works and her characters.
