翻译不仅是一个语言处理的过程，同时也需要大脑在不同的思维方式之间进行转换。揉思维之间的共性是翻译的基础。然而，由于英汉语使用者生活的自然地理环境和客观现实存在着许多不同的地方，他们的思维方式自然也存在着一些差异。本文首先列举、比较了英语与汉语使用者思维方式的差异，并通过例子总结出这些差异对英汉语言的影响，最后文章从词汇、句子和语篇三个层面对英汉翻译实例进行讨论，得出若干行之有效的调整手段以适应译入语言的表达习惯。
